# 96 | Growing an Interior Design Team with Gabriela Eisenhart

Growing an Interior Design team with Gabriela Eisenhart

"People hire us because they're looking for our aesthetic. It's so important that my projects tell the client's story so we do a lot of digging into who they are and their lifestyle. I want people to walk into their home when we're done and it feels like them." - Gabriela Eisenhart

In today's episode, I sat down with Gabriela Eisenhart of Silo Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. She and her team help clients nationwide infuse homes with their fresh, modern aesthetic that pushes boundaries while still being livable. We talked about the evolution of SIlo Studios and how she manages a team today that helps move projects from concept to completion.

Client-Centric Design

Gabriela emphasizes the importance of making projects reflect the client's story rather than pushing her own aesthetic. Her team accomplishes this by digging deep into a client's lifestyle to ensure the final design feels like theirs. The team believes in slow design, which is intentional and organic, allowing clients to bring in pieces that tell their story along the way and they spent time educating clients on the benefits of slow design and the importance of investing in quality pieces that last.

Building an Interior Design Team

Building a team is all about finding the right balance and sometimes making hard choices when the balance isn't quite right. Gabriela shares how she has found that "just right" balance for herself and her team with an operations manager as well as a few other designers. When it comes to building a team, it is really important to look at growth through the lens of what strengths you have and then hiring for the things you aren't as strong in or would rather not do so that you free up your time for creativity and design.

Feedback from your team as you grow on what processes and systems are working, which aren't working as smoothly and where they could use more or less help is so important in creating a solid work environment and relationship to maintain a healthy team.

Gabriela and I also discuss more about imposter syndrome in business, business, and family and where she's headed next throughout this episode. Knowing who you are as a designer, where you are headed, and what kind of team you want makes all the difference in building the interior design business you love, can sustain, and works for your life.
